Camp Half Blood Was A Blast!

On February 15, the Young Adult Services Department and the Children's and Youth Services Department of the Carmel Clay Public Library created our own Camp Half Blood to celebrate the Percy Jackson book series by Rick Riordan and the release of the new Percy Jackson movie.

The event was a huge success, thanks to the help of the 31 teens who participated in the planning meeting, the 12 teens who came in at other times to prepare the craft supplies, and the 32 teens who dressed up and ran the event!

113 people visited Camp Half Blood during the three hours it was open. There were several “cabins” for them to explore. They could make shields…

…shoot at bad guys…

… learn more about the Greek gods and goddesses...

… get a temporary tattoo…

…do Percy Jackson word searches and mazes…

…and more!

Library staff had a great time, too. Here are Jennifer and Page from the Young Adult Services department…

…and Robyn and Crosby from the Children’s and Youth Services department:

It was a wonderful, wonderful day.

As for the new Percy Jackson movie, I still haven’t seen it yet, but I hear that it is good as long as you aren’t expecting it to be ANYTHING like the book. Have you seen it yet? What’s your opinion?

Hope
