Mini-marshmallows...or building materials?  Both!

Last night at their monthly meeting, the Carmel Clay Public Library's Tuesday group members made starter kits of mini-marshmallows for the Food Sculpture Contest.  That is just one of many fun activities the TLC members have planned for their Pajama Party for 4th and 5th Graders coming up this Saturday, April 17, 2010.  Registration for the party closes today at 9pm.

At tonight's meeting, the Wednesday TLC group will make goody bags for the kids to take home at the end of the party.  These and other supplies and refreshments are all paid for by the Friends of the Carmel Clay Public Library.  (Thank you, Friends!)

(Did you know:  the Friends' semi-annual Book Sale will be Thursday, April 22 - Sunday, April 25!  For more information about it, please look here:

The Choice Picks book-and-movie discussion at the end of the Tuesday group's meeting was lively and interesting, as usual, even though people's mouths were sticky from eating leftover marshmallows.  Here are Nimisha's notes.  Thank you, Nimisha, for taking them!

Rhiannon - Poison Ears by Holly Black. Modern family tale, short read, short stories.
Divya - Midnight Twins by Jacquelyn Mitchard. Two twins have a twin telepathy. Get into an accident at the age of 13. Fire starts after birthday and their connection is broken. One can see future and other can see past. Have to save the town from danger. Really good book.
Jeff - Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Indian guy who is stranded in boat with a tiger, a monkey, and a hyena. At the end, he talks about how the animals were more like people. About life and religion. Good book.
John - The Plague by Albert Camus. Really good, really scary. Have to read it to know what it's about.
Sidney - The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson. Really boring.
Nimisha - The Devil in the White City... About a serial killer finding the perfect opportunity to go on a mass murder.
Shawyon - "How to Train Your Pet Dragon" (movie) Better than I thought it would be.
Sarah - Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk.  Really interesting. The guy is bipolar, but you don’t know that at the beginning.
Katie - "Clash of the Titans" (movie) Really really depressing. One of those movies where you don’t really care about it. Some action scenes, but they weren’t set up very well.
Jeff - "Alvin and the Chipmunks: the Squeakquel" (movie) Seemed like a repeat of the first movie but with females.
Colleen - "Roots" (multi-part movie) Really weird, especially since we missed some of the sections.

Hyesoo – "How to Train Your Pet Dragon" (Cute)/ "Gone with the Wind" (Old Fashioned) (movies)

Hope

(Photo above was taken with my trusty iPhone.  Now to put all these bags of marshmallows into a box or something until Saturday night!)
