Teen Picks from the Book Stores!

The Teen Library Council went on our “spring” book buying trips this week. As the adult co-sponsors, Jamie and I got to go on both trips. They were so much fun!

The Tuesday TLC group met at Half-Price Books and bought books that will be used as prizes for people who complete the 2010 Young Adult Summer Reading Program. Each TLC member shopped for four fun-to-read books in good shape that each cost around $5. (Paid for by the Friends of the Carmel Clay Public Library.) Those books went into the Book Vault to be ready for this summer.
The Wednesday TLC group met at Barnes & Noble and selected books that will be processed and made part of the library’s circulating collection within the next couple of weeks. Each TLC member could “spend” up to $30 on books that he or she thought other teens would like to read for fun.
Below are the books that we are adding to the circulating collection. Is this an interesting mix or what?! I always love seeing what the teens pick out. I know that teens’ reading interests are as varied as adults’ (duh!) but the variety surprises and delights me every time.
